In the sunny south of the flower island. In the west of Calheta you can expect for a relaxed vacation, at 350 m above sea level, the Casa Antiga and the Casa Levada
Two traditional Madeira houses with rustic charm, lovingly restored by a German artist couple. The special thing about these domiciles is the skilful “Less is more”- equipment and fantastic views of the ocean. The property is only a few steps away from the center of town and is still quiet.
The garden extends over several terraces in a sunny south -west position. Prepared with a garden or deck chair, everyone will find their favorite place here. Old vitilings, laurel, fig and sugar apple trees provide shade, scents and fruits. In the middle of the property, a levada ripples, an island -typical artificial stream. Each of the two houses has a sunny outdoor seat, and a brick grill on which you can prepare your fresh fish in the evening and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine ...
In the sun -drenched south of the island is the Casa Antiga, a rustic Madiensian farmhouse with thick stone walls. It impresses with its interesting expansion, old is artistically arranged, a successful mix of minimalist charms. The roof and ceiling beams were made by hand over 200 years ago from local chestnut. The small kitchen offers everything you need for self -sufficiency. You spend romantic evenings on the open fireplace, which can be fired with wood with wood that is in stock on the property. The double bed under the rustic roof beams conveys a feeling of security. At a small writing desk on the window you can write a card to the loved ones at home. A fantastic view of the ocean and the opposite side of the valley is available from all windows. A few steps in front of the door is a sunny outdoor seat with a magnificent view. There you can take your breakfast or spend nice evenings with a bottle of wine.

In old wine breeds you will find the Casa Levada, it is an lovable house with an open floor plan over two levels plus sleeping floor. In the past, the family of the winegrower only lived here on the upper floor. Today the former wine cellar houses the rustically furnished, spacious kitchen with an open fireplace and the seating area. A window door brings enough light and allows a nice view over the old wine breeds to the Atlantic. On the upper floor there is a double bed under a window from which you can see the sun sink in the sea in winter. An originally designed bathroom with a maritime flair and another seating area with a small sofa bed result in a cozy atmosphere. A sleeping gallery with a small window can be reached via a ladder. Here children or friends can spend the night on a double mattress.
There is a cozy seat under ancient vines directly at the house.
